The Knitting Pirate has been obsessed with yarn and string for as long as she can remember, beginning with friendship bracelets and weaving on a plastic loom. She learned to knit at eight, but didn’t really pick it up as a hobby until her late 20s. Other string-related hobbies include inkle and card weaving, embroidery, sewing, quilting and, yes, the occasional friendship bracelet. The Pirate has just started to get into the idea of dying and spinning, or maybe spinning and dying, her own yarn - Pirate-Husband bought her a wheel for her 30th birthday, and a drum carder soon followed…

In her day job, the Pirate does graphic design for web-based training, and is considering the possibility of going back to school for her Master’s degree.

The Pirate’s latest adventure is buying a log house on top of a mountain.
