Football on television, sock in my hands and laptop at my side, sitting on the couch with Pirate-Husband, who’s playing a computer game. Life is good.

I’m having a hard time believing this myself, but I didn’t knit a single stitch yesterday! I meant to, but somehow it just never happened. I came home from work and got dinner going, then found myself snoozing on the futon instead of knitting. Then Pirate-Husband and I watched the second half of Gone With the Wind. Seems like there should be a third half that tells the rest of the story!

Speaking of Pirate-Husband, he is very wise in the ways of knitters. He did not bring any yarn or wool back from Iceland with him for me, because (as he said) there’d be no way of knowing how much I needed for a project. Instead, he brought me a handknit hat in variegated greens! It is great and will match my scarf! I think it’s knit of Lopi (what else?) and I’m hoping it’s not too itchy to wear. I have a Jayne Hat made of Lopi from the Knitting Ninja, which I can only wear for a little while before the itches go straight through my head. Perhaps I can line each of the hats with soft fleece or something.

Tonight I will definitely knit *something*, though I’m not sure what project I’ll work on. Tomorrow is SnB again! We decided that it was silly to say that we were an every-other-week group when we keep showing up every Wednesday, so now we’re officially a weekly group.

How long does it usually take for WEBS to fill and ship an order? Not that I can start the projects yet, but I’m anxious to have the yarn.

It was a busy weekend of friends visiting, and as a result, no knitting. Next weekend there are more exciting plans – Pirate-Husband and I are going to begin our search for a house! This means two things: 1, I will finally have room for a spinning wheel and 2, if I don’t get to knit on the weekends, I have to knit double on weekdays to make up for it. Or spin more. Or something!

The next entry should have more content. :)

The next few days are going to be really busy. I’m prepping for a 4th of July party and then going out of town until Sunday night… and I start my New Job on Monday. Hopefully there will be some time to knit on my vacation, and I will have pretty Jaywalker pictures to show off when I get back!

Have a happy 4th, everyone!

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom and to all the other moms out there!

MomMy parents came to visit today. Pirate-Husband and I hosted the party, which also included my brother and sister-in-law (still pregnant). This is my mom, working on a baby sweater. Mom taught me to knit when I was a kid, maybe around eight or nine, and she is just thrilled that it’s become a hobby I love so much. I may have convinced her, when she’s done with this sweater, that she needs to do something for herself. A sweater, she says, would be nothing like what she needs… but a shawl, now, that would be just perfect. It seems that she goes to a lot of fancy events and is always cold in formal dresses. I showed her a few patterns I especially like, and I think she may be into the idea. She wants a pattern that doesn’t take too much thinking, because knitting is something she does while she’s doing something else. I think this could be managed.

My sister-in-law looks much more uncomfortable than she did when I saw her a few days ago. The baby will be born any day now! My brother predicts Thursday. I finished the knitting part of the pants; now they need washing, drying, blocking, embroidery, and seaming. That’ll all be tomorrow – *before* the baby comes.
